History of American Theatre Company

Started in 1970 by Kitty Roberts and a group of former University of Tulsa students, American Theatre Company has grown to be one of the largest community advocates for theatrical arts in the diverse community of Tulsa.  The organization is supported by over 200 regular volunteers annually.  Since its founding as an independent non-profit in 1977, American Theatre Company has served the community by producing more than 350+ plays and musicals, attended by more than 100,000 audience members. The 2019-2020 season marked the Golden Anniversary of the company, celebrating 50 years of providing Tulsa with the highest quality of live theatre.  American Theatre Company is organized as a nonprofit in the State of Oklahoma and is a recognized 501(c)(3).
